Senior Artist

Micro Forté Studios is always interested to talk with artists, who have strong artistic and technical skills in all the core art disciplines. Experience developing artwork for games on PC, X-box or console is essential. An ideal candidate would be a multidisciplinary artist with experience in concept art, modelling and texturing objects and environments with a very strong technical understanding of 3DSMAX6, and an ability to innovate to create the best possible visuals within any applicable constraints.

The position attracts usually candidates that have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with programmers to develop and refine such areas as morphing, rigging, character customisation, lighting from the art perspective, and understand technical issues such as memory budgets, lighting models, normal mapping, and LOD techniques, and know how to work with these to achieve great visuals, within the parameters of the game engine.

Senior Artists are required to build stunningly impressive items, creatures and scenery models within 3DSMAX, that serve to showcase what is possible in the next generation of games. They have considerable freedom to exercise your remarkable artistic talent.

  • A showreel demonstrating low polygon modelling and texturing ability (nothing cartoony please)

Application and Portfolio Guidelines
Online portfolios or CDs are fine. You will be required to provide a full portfolio at interview stage. Please supply examples of low poly models and scenes, including mesh renders, textures, and 2D hand rendered art. Subject matter we are interested in includes scenery (cityscapes as well as outdoor), items and weapons, characters and animals. Please provide polygon count information, and text explaining what parts are your work if the examples are from games or other group work. You will need to be prepared to do a modelling test in 3DS MAX as part of our interview process.
